Mr. Walter joined Stone Pigman in 2009 and is an associate of the firm. Prior to commencing his legal career he worked as a pension actuary for a major human resources consulting firm and owned and operated a music venue in New Orleans. In his business practice, he uses his legal and entrepreneurial experience to advise clients on both the corporate and tax aspects of the entire life cycle of their businesses, including forming and capitalizing business entities, drafting contracts governing the relationship between owners, negotiating and drafting commercial contracts, and selling and merging companies. He also focuses on all aspects of federal and state tax credits, including New Markets Tax Credits, Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, and the Louisiana Motion Picture Industry Development Tax Credit.

Mr. Walter volunteers with the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic and the ELLA (Entertainment Law Legal Assistance) project, assisting clients with various tax issues including tax liens and wage garnishments, negotiating payment plans with tax authorities, and representing clients in the United States Tax Court.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2009, where he was selected to the Order of the Coif, was the Managing Editor of the Virginia Tax Review, and was a recipient of the Edwin S. Cohen Tax Prize. He received his B.A. in Economics/Mathematics from Emory University. He was admitted to the Louisiana bar in 2009.
