Mr. Hall joined Stone Pigman in 1996 and is a member of the firm. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, oil and gas disputes, and defending clients in class actions and individual actions involving allegations of personal injury or property damage due to chemical exposure. He was admitted to the Louisiana bar in 1996.
Representative Matters
Obtained declaratory judgment vindicating client's interpretation of joint operating agreement entered by mineral interest owners.
Defended client and obtained dismissal of claims for alleged underpayment of royalties on oil and gas production.
Advised client regarding Louisiana mineral law issues affecting a major transaction involving real estate transfers in multiple states, and regarding how to structure the transaction to protect client's mineral interests.
Defended against multi-million dollar breach of contract and fraud claims, obtaining favorable settlement after prevailing on various pre-trial motions.
Represented claimant in customer-broker securities dispute and obtained favorable settlement for client.
Defended a major publicly traded gaming company in a lawsuit alleging corruption and other wrongdoing in connection with obtaining a riverboat gaming license in Louisiana; obtained dismissal of federal RICO and antitrust claims, and subsequently obtained a favorable settlement of remaining state law claims.
Currently defending a client in a putative class action in which plaintiffs allege exposure to toxic mold.
Defended a client against an administrative complaint in which the EPA alleged Superfund and Community Right-to-Know Act violations. Six of seven counts were dismissed and the seventh was settled on favorable terms.
Served as the lead environmental counsel in advising a paper-industry client on the regulatory, permit, liability, and contractual indemnity issues raised by the client's purchase of a paper mill in Louisiana. Education
Mr. Hall received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Loyola University School of Law in 1996. At Loyola, he was chosen to Moot Court and served as Managing Editor of the Loyola Law Review, 1995-96. Mr. Hall is a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, and is on the Louisiana Mineral Law Institute Advisory Council. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana SPCA, and is a member of Board of Directors for the Louisiana State Bar Association's Environmental Law Section.
Mr. Hall is a member of the American, Louisiana State, and New Orleans Bar Associations, and prior to beginning the practice of law, was a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana. Publications
