Mr. Schneider joined Stone Pigman in 1984 and is a member of the firm. He is a member of the firm's Management Committee and is the co-chair of the firm's Real Estate practice group. He has extensive experience in the area of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions in Louisiana and elsewhere. He has been involved in many of the major commercial real estate transactions and gaming developments in the region. Mr. Schneider is admitted to practice in Louisiana.
Representative Matters
Represented the seller in the negotiation and sale of a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico to a national conservation organization.
Represented a casino operator in real estate acquisition, financing, land use, construction and development of riverboat casino and related properties throughout Louisiana, including Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Bossier City and Harvey.
Represented the developer of the Loew's New Orleans Hotel in acquisition, zoning, land use, development, construction and financing.
Represented the developer of the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in New Orleans in acquisition, development and financing.
Represented the developer in land acquisition, including acquisitions from multiple public agencies, rezoning, resubdivision, financing and long term ground leasing of the site to a major national retailer.
Represented the owner of the House of Blues building in the French Quarter in acquisition, permitting, leasing and development.
Represented the developer of retail stores throughout Louisiana in land acquisition, development, construction and financing.
Education
Mr. Schneider graduated magna cum laude from the Tulane University School of Law in 1983, where he was selected to the Order of the Coif and was a member of the Tulane Law Review, 1982-83. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Stanford University in 1980. Professional and Civic Activities
Mr. Schneider was law clerk to the Honorable Walter Marcus of the Louisiana Supreme Court in 1983-84. He is a member of the American and Louisiana State Bar Associations and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Mr. Schneider has been named to The Best Lawyers in America in the fields of real estate law and construction law and to Louisiana Super Lawyers. Chambers and Partners identified Mr. Schneider as one of the leading lawyers in the field of real estate in its Chambers USA, Client's Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business. In 2011, he was named as a New Orleans CityBusiness Leader in Law. Mr. Schneider has frequently spoken on real estate topics, including an interview on WDSU - TV in New Orleans and seminars conducted by the Louisiana State Bar Association and the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center Institute on Real Estate.
