Mr. McKay joined Stone Pigman in 2007 and has over 30 years of litigation experience. He focuses his practice on civil trials, appeals, mass torts, class action defense, general insurance defense and mediation. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and Louisiana federal and state courts.
Representative Matters
Represented a shopping center owner against the builder of the center for defective construction. The case was ultimately settled after being appealed to the Louisiana Supreme Court and obtaining a ruling which established the doctrine of undisclosed agency in Louisiana. Woodlawn Park v. Represented a small business owner for damages to his business resulting from the termination of an at will contract. Mr. McKay obtained a jury verdict in favor of the small business owner based on the civilian doctrine of “abuse of rights”. Linden v. Morgan Express
Education
Mr. McKay received his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1974. He earned his B.A. in History and Political Science from Louisiana State University in 1971. Professional and Civic Activities
Mr. McKay is a past president of both the Baton Rouge and the Louisiana State Bar Associations. He is an active member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates, the Louisiana Association Defense Counsel, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Executive Council of the National Conference of Bar Presidents and the American Inns of Court.
Among his civic and charitable endeavors, Mr. McKay is on the Board of Directors for the Shaw Center for the Arts, President of the Boys and Girls Club of Baton Rouge and a member of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
