Mr. Masinter joined Stone Pigman in 1990 and is a member of the firm. His practice is concentrated primarily in the areas of commercial litigation, toxic tort, products liability and securities litigation and arbitration. He handles cases involving breach of contract claims and unfair trade practices. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and all Louisiana federal and state courts.

Representative Matters
Represented regional hospital and other businesses in their Hurricane Katrina business interruption insurance claims.

Represented major independent oil and gas company in multimillion dollar oil and gas royalty and tort case tried in Vermilion Parish, State of Louisiana.

Represented real estate developer in federal court on criminal Clean Water Act, mail fraud and conspiracy claims tried in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.

Represented a major manufacturer of telecommunications equipment in a breach of contract/fraud action where plaintiff alleged the destruction of its business and $2 billion in damages plus punitive damages. Case filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Tried in arbitration a breach of contract and unfair trade practices claim for a company engaged in the sale of securities. He also has represented brokers in NASD investigations and proceedings.

Represented a regional banking corporation in a $15 million claim against a Louisiana based accounting firm alleging negligent auditing work by the accounting firm on one of the bank's customers. Case filed in East Baton Rouge Parish, State of Louisiana.

Represented in state and federal courts in Louisiana a major alumina refining company in the defense of class action and personal injury claims and a government investigation arising from an explosion at its plant. The representation also involved asserting claims on behalf of the manufacturer against third parties.

Prosecuted and defended many claims for breach of employment contracts, including claims to enforce non-competition, anti-raiding and confidentiality claims.

Education
Mr. Masinter graduated from Louisiana State University School of Law in 1987, where he served as Associate Editor of the Louisiana Law Review, 1986-87. He received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in 1984.

Professional and Civic Activities
Mr. Masinter was chosen as law clerk to the Honorable James L. Dennis of the Louisiana Supreme Court, 1987-88. He is a member of the American Bar Association Sections of Litigation and Business Law, and he is the Co-Chair of the Programs Subcommitte for the Business and Corporate Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law. He is also the former newsletter chair of the Committee as well as the former co-chair of the Business Torts Subcommittee of the Committee. Mr. Masinter is a member of the Louisiana State and New Orleans Bar Associations. He has acted as an instructor for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Mr. Masinter is the President of the Board of Commissioners of the New Orleans City Park Improvement Association. Mr. Masinter also serves on the Board of Directors of the Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. and the Board of Trustees of Trinity Episcopal School. He is the past president and a current board member of Save Our Cemeteries, Inc.
