As a signatory to the Louisiana State Bar Association's Statement of Diversity Principles, Stone Pigman is committed to fostering diversity in the legal profession. We recognize that diversity is an inclusive concept that encompasses many aspects, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, and disability, among others.
Diverse attorneys and non-attorney staff occupy leadership positions within the firm, including membership on the firm's Management Committee and supervisory positions within the firm's administration. We take great pride in the fact that Stone Pigman was one of the first firms in the New Orleans area to have women and minority attorneys serving on its Management Committee. The firm is especially proud of the fact that the first African-American president of the Louisiana State Bar Association was Stone Pigman member Wayne J. Lee. In addition, multiple management and department director positions are held by women.
Stone Pigman also focuses on recruiting, hiring, and retaining diverse attorneys and staff. The firm participates in the Louisiana State Bar Association Minority Job Fair and the Tulane Diversity Clerkship Program. We also participate in and support various diversity initiatives. The firm hosts an annual diversity reception for first-year students from Tulane University Law School to meet members of the New Orleans legal community. The firm is a sponsor of the LSBA's annual Diversity Conclave, which both lawyers and staff members attend.
Attorneys from our firm have held leadership positions in the ABA's Section of Litigation's Diversity Committee, LGBT Litigator Committee, Woman Advocate Committee, and the Minority Trial Lawyer Committee. Stone Pigman attorneys are also active members of the National Bar Association and its local affiliate, the Louis A. Martinet Society, as well as the Louisiana Association of Black Women Attorneys, the Association for Women Attorneys, and CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women). Our attorneys also serve on the LSBA's Diversity Committee, a permanent state bar committee founded by Stone Pigman's own Wayne J. Lee. Learn more about Wayne here.
