Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. Merges with McKay, Lutgring & Cochran L.L.C.
Law firm expands corporate practice and presence in Baton Rouge.
NEW ORLEANS – Jan. 1, 2007 – Responding to growing business opportunities along the I-10 and I-12 corridors, Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. has acquired the McKay, Lutgring and Cochran law firm in Baton Rouge, La., effective Jan. 1, 2007.
Michael W. McKay, Michael D. Lutgring and Douglas J. Cochran, previously partners at McKay, Lutgring and Cochran in Baton Rouge, will join Stone Pigman's Baton Rouge office as new partners practicing in the areas of corporate litigation and commercial law, including transactions, mergers and acquisitions.
“We've been representing clients in Baton Rouge for 30 years. Having these lawyers join us elevates our commitment to Baton Rouge and our clients there. The growing economy of Baton Rouge and the improving business climate in New Orleans creates a need for a presence in both markets. These three new well-respected lawyers will help us serve all of our clients better," said Phil Wittmann, managing partner at Stone Pigman.
“The similarities between the business communities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans are greater today than ever before. The ‘distance’ between New Orleans and Baton Rouge is growing shorter by the day. Businesses in a number of industries that formerly operated in one market are opening offices in both areas. More employees are commuting between the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas. The experience of our new Baton Rouge members will increase Stone Pigman’s recognized reputation as one of Louisiana's top corporate law and litigation firms,†said Scott Whittaker, business section head at Stone Pigman, referring to Chambers USA’s 2006 law firm rankings which listed the firm first in litigation and second in corporate/mergers and acquisitions in Louisiana.
"Our affiliation with the firm allows us to offer new legal services to our clients and expand our work in litigation and commercial law. It's a great opportunity to grow in Baton Rouge and New Orleans," said Michael W. McKay, partner at McKay, Lutgring and Cochran.
Stone Pigman will move its Baton Rouge office from the State National Life Building to the McKay, Lutgring and Cochran office at 2431 South Acadian Thruway, Suite 290, effective January 1, 2007.
