Stone Pigman's Health Care Practice Group engages in a wide variety of transactional, regulatory and litigation matters including counseling clients regarding agreements for delivery of health care services, management of entities, and billing, as well as contract disputes, malpractice defense, bond financing, sales and leases of medical office buildings, and antitrust issues. Over the past few years, one of our lawyers has resolved more than $500 million in contract disputes throughout the United States for some of the nation's largest healthcare organizations, including disputes between HMOs, healthcare insurers, large physician group practices, and large hospital groups.
Additional matters that our lawyers have handled recently include the following:
- representation of an underwriter in connection with the issuance of $73,745,000 of conduit bonds for the benefit of a continuing care retirement community in Baton Rouge, Louisiana;
- representation of a health services company in a series of purchases and sales of home health agencies throughout Louisiana, and
- representation of a major local hospital in defense of an attempt by hospital-based physicians to nullify a contract as an alleged violation of the federal Medicare anti-kickback statute and obtained an injunction requiring the physicians to perform their contract through its expiration date.
