Matthew Almon Becomes a Member of Stone Pigman
Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. is pleased to announce that Matthew S. Almon has been elected as a Member of the firm. Matt joined the firm in 2008 as an Associate and became a Member on January 1, 2015.
"I am excited to become a Member of the firm and continue my growth as a lawyer," said Matt. "This is a great honor, and I look forward to furthering the excellent reputation the firm has cultivated for the past 80 years. My colleagues are second to none."
Matt concentrates his litigation practice on commercial, employment and intellectual property matters and also assists with complex appellate matters. He has contributed to several notable firm victories in recent years, including its recent defense of a national civic action group against a trademark infringement claim, in which injunctive efforts were successfully thwarted upon the opponent's failure to demonstrate a likelihood of consumer confusion or a compelling reason to curtail the civic action group's political speech in favor of the opponent's service mark.
"Matt Almon has proven himself to be an outstanding young lawyer. On behalf of the firm, I congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition and expect great things from him in the years to come," said Barry Ashe, Chair of Stone Pigman's Management Committee.
Matt has been named a Rising Star by Louisiana Super Lawyers. He is on the Board of Directors of the Younger Lawyers Division of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Prior to joining Stone Pigman, he served as a law clerk to Justice Catherine D. Kimball at the Louisiana Supreme Court.
Matt earned his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University Law School in 2007, where he was Senior Notes and Comments Editor of the Tulane Law Review and a Senior Fellow in the Tulane Legal Analysis Program. He received his B.A., cum laude, in Political Science from the University of Tulsa in 2002.
