Stone Pigman Sponsors John Minor Wisdom Awards at ABA Litigation Annual Meeting
Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. sponsored the John Minor Wisdom Public Service and Professionalism Awards at the 2003 American Bar Association Section of Litigation Annual Meeting in Houston on April 10.
The John Minor Wisdom Public Service and Professionalism Award was established by the American Bar Association Section of Litigation in 1990. It is named for Judge John Minor Wisdom, a scholar and jurist of the highest integrity whose tenure on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit is best known for its recognition of constitutional rights of all citizens. Judge Wisdom's decisions establishing the right to vote, implementing equal educational opportunities and strengthening the right of effective counsel are marked by wisdom and compassion. Each year the Section honors Judge Wisdom through the selection of outstanding individuals and firms to receive the award that bears his name. The recipients of the Wisdom Awards have made important contributions to the equality of justice in their communities, ensuring that the legal system is open and available to all.
Judge Wisdom began his celebrated career in 1929 when he joined his classmate and lifelong friend, Saul Stone, in founding the New Orleans firm that would become Stone Pigman. Today, Stone Pigman represents national, regional and local businesses in a full range of litigation and business matters, including corporate, securities, real estate, intellectual property, health care, tax and estate planning. Following the examples of their founders, Stone Pigman lawyers are distinguished by leadership in their profession and by their dedication to superior client service.
