Wayne J. Lee Honored with New Orleans Bar Association Presidents' Award
The New Orleans Bar Association presented its annual Presidentsâ€™ Award to Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. member Wayne J. Lee on July 17, 2003. The award is the highest level of recognition from the Association and is named the â€œPresidentsâ€™ Awardâ€ out of respect to the high ideals of community service and leadership displayed by all of the Presidents of the New Orleans Bar Association.
The Presidentsâ€™ award honors a member of the Association whose activities in community service outside of the legal profession, over a significant number of years, demonstrate an active commitment to community service, high moral and spiritual standards, and concern for the social and cultural well-being of all of the citizens of New Orleans.
Mr. Lee balances his active and successful litigation practice with dedicated work for professional and community organizations. His extensive resume of organizations, associations, committees, boards, memberships, appointments, elected positions and honors reflect his esteemed character and devotion to his profession and community.
Mr. Lee joined Stone Pigman in 1974 and became a member of the firm in 1978. He chairs the firm's Commercial Litigation section and focuses his practice on representing clients in complex litigation including class actions, insurance and constitutional law litigation. Mr. Lee has experience handling complex litigation involving insurance coverage disputes, class actions, and bad faith claims and other extra-contractual liability issues. He has represented insurers against attempts at class-action certification with respect to claims based on underwriting practices and bad faith, and coverage issues. He has also represented both public bodies and private businesses in their defense against class actions.
Mr. Lee received his law degree in 1974 from Tulane University School of Law, where he was chosen to the Order of the Coif and was a member of the Tulane Law Review Board of Editors, 1972-74. He received his undergraduate degree from Tulane in 1971.
