Dynamic and developing, the gaming industry is witnessing significant and rapid growth.  At Stone Pigman, attorneys in our gaming practice have extensive experience in the gaming industry and diligently keep abreast of new laws, regulations, and other developments in this ever-changing sector.

The firm has provided counsel to gaming operators, developers, gaming and non-gaming suppliers, lenders and investors, advising and assisting clients in regulatory, licensing, administrative, and litigation matters.

Stone Pigman lawyers are members of the International Association of Gaming Advisors, and they have routinely appeared before regulatory authorities, including the Louisiana State Police, the Attorney General's Office, and the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, as well as in litigation in state and federal courts.

Our Experience

A few examples of Stone Pigman’s experience in the Gaming Industry include:

  • Represented a national casino company as Louisiana gaming regulatory counsel in its acquisition of a riverboat casino, including required Louisiana Gaming Control Board approvals and findings of suitability.
  • Defended casino owner, operator, and developer in federal and state court litigation relating to the licensing of riverboat gaming in Louisiana, obtaining dismissal of the federal claims and thereafter favorably settling the remaining state law claims.  Astoria Entertainment, Inc. v. Edwards, 159 F.Supp. 2d 303 (E.D.La. 2001).
  • Provided legal and regulatory research, counsel, and contributions to Spectrum Gaming Group in connection with its Comprehensive Gaming Industry Analysis prepared in 2019.
