Katelyn Gunn Joins the Firm as Special Counsel

Stone Pigman is pleased to announce Katelyn Gunn has joined the firm as special counsel in its Trusts and Estates Group.

Gunn joins Stone Pigman after spending more than seven years at two large national firms.  As a trusts and estates attorney, she helps clients navigate sophisticated estate planning issues, drafting documents, including wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and matrimonial agreements, administering succession proceedings, and preparing U.S. Gift Tax returns and U.S. Estate Tax returns.

“Katelyn has spent years honing her skills, advising clients in the estate planning process, and is a solid addition to the firm,” said Michael Walshe, chairman of Stone Pigman’s Management Committee.  “Her capabilities and experience will serve our clients well and further strengthen our established Trusts and Estates Group led by John Overby.”

“I was drawn to this field because it presents an opportunity to work with clients in an area that impacts everyone, regardless of the size of their estates.  It is satisfying to work with clients to enact plans that give them peace of mind that their wishes will be carried out and to assist clients with their goals of wealth preservation and family business continuity for future generations,” Gunn said.  “Joining Stone Pigman offers me a great opportunity to develop my practice in a well-established group, helping to make the estate planning process understandable and accessible for existing and new clients.”

A Gainesville, Georgia native, Gunn graduated from Tulane University Law School cum laude.  During law school, she was a judicial extern to U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana Judge Kurt Engelhardt.

Gunn earned her undergraduate degrees in political science and Spanish from the University of Georgia, where she graduated summa cum laude, was on the dean’s list, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a UGA Presidential Scholar.

Outside of work, Gunn enjoys attending sporting events to root for the Saints and her alma mater's Bulldogs, and spending time with her husband and two young children.
