Nicholas J. Wehlen


Mr. Wehlen is Chair of the firm's Securities Litigation Practice Group and has an active litigation practice. He represents defendants and plaintiffs in complex cases involving securities litigation, commercial litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and fee disputes among lawyers or between lawyers and their clients. He has been a speaker on issues such as the Louisiana Public Bid Law and the enforcement of non-competition agreements. Mr. Wehlen joined Stone Pigman in 2004.

Representative Matters

Representation of defendants in complex securities litigation involving allegations of fraud and breaches of fiduciary duties.

Representation of claimants seeking to recover investment losses or other damages in FINRA arbitration proceedings.

Representation of law firms in connection with both fee disputes and cases involving claims of legal malpractice or negligence.

Representation of second lien lenders group in Legends Gaming Chapter 11 case.

Representation of a public housing agency and other entities and individuals in connection with public bid and construction disputes.

Representation of a major manufacturer of computer equipment in a breach of contract/unfair trade practices action where plaintiff alleged in excess of $1 billion in damages plus punitive damages.  Case filed in the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans, State of Louisiana.

Successfully defended former CEO in bankruptcy court litigation with public company debtor.

Successfully represented former Entergy lineman in litigation against the manufacturer of an electrical utility pole after lineman suffered extensive, life-threatening injuries in the course of his work.

Has represented various creditors in bankruptcy proceedings of all sizes.

Mr. Wehlen is a member of the American and Louisiana State Bar Associations.
