John Landis Wins Favorable Verdict for Client Who Operates Crude Oil Pipeline and Terminal

Stone Pigman attorney John Landis won a favorable verdict for a client in St. James Parish who operates a crude oil pipeline and terminal. 

John successfully stopped an attempt by an adjacent, rival pipeline operator to obtain a right of way over their client’s property to deliver oil to a large customer, arguing that the expropriation served no public purpose and would instead stifle competition between the two pipeline operators. 

After a trial on the merits, the court denied the attempted expropriation on the grounds that it would violate the Louisiana Constitution.
