Overview

Stone Pigman represents corporate and individual fiduciaries. We counsel clients on their rights and obligations as a fiduciary, such as an executor or trustee, and advise them on "best practices" to avoid litigation. We also represent heirs and trust beneficiaries, advising them on their rights, monitoring probate proceedings and/or trust administration on their behalf, and advising them on how to most effectively correct issues.

Stone Pigman advises executors, trustees and other fiduciaries in the proper execution of their duties and also handles fiduciary litigation, including will contests, trust disputes, breach of fiduciary duty claims and interdiction (guardianship) proceedings. Stone Pigman has pursued and defended will contests based upon lack of capacity and undue influence and forced heirship claims, and has both defended trustees against breach of fiduciary duty claims and pursued such claims by beneficiaries against trustees.

Lawyers in this practice group include Fellows in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and Board Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialists, certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, who work in conjunction with the Firm's experienced trial attorneys to create an effective team that is knowledgeable and experienced both in the subject matter of the dispute and the legal proceedings required to bring or defend a claim.
